Fred: We know Andreas's qualities

Sunday 13 November 2022 07:00

Fred has shared praise for former Manchester United midfielder Andreas Pereira ahead of the Reds’ trip to face Fulham this afternoon.

Andreas worked his way through our youth ranks and into the senior team during nearly 11 years at the club, before signing for Marco Silva’s side in the summer.

He has quickly established himself as a key player for the London club, who have enjoyed an impressive return to the top flight over recent months.

Fred may be tasked with going head-to-head with the attacking midfielder, who has two goals and four assists so far this campaign, in this afternoon's Premier League encounter. He knows the qualities his Brazilian compatriot possesses.

Fred: We need to play our game at Fulham

Fred acknowledges the quality Fulham have in their ranks, which includes former Red Andreas Pereira...

“I think he's doing really well at Fulham, he's a great player. Everyone knows how good he is,” Fred told club media. “We played together here for some time, he was at Flamengo in Brazil where he did well, I was following him there.”

“Now he's back here with Fulham and having a great season in the Premier League. Great player, we know his quality, but we have to play our game, we know the qualities of their players, but we need to play our game and get the win.”

Andreas's Fulham will make for a difficult final test for us before the World Cup break and it’s especially important to get back to winning ways in the Premier League after the 3-1 defeat to Aston Villa last weekend.

That's a point that Fred was keen to emphasise when speaking to us earlier this week.

“I think there are a lot of games ahead, it's a long season and we're in other competitions as well,” he said. “We have a series of tests ahead and we should aim to win them all.”

After the next of those contests, Fred will head to the World Cup in Qatar with a Brazil squad that also includes United's Casemiro, Antony and Alex Telles.
