Fred can bring the steel against the Blades
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hopes Fred can pick up from where he left off before the international break, when he put one of his best displays in a Manchester United shirt.
“I think he’s finding his feet and he’s enjoying himself,“ said Solskjaer in his pre-match press conference for the Sunday newspapers.Fred has creativity and tenacity too, because he’s a good ball winner.”
Since making his first appearance in the Premier League this season as a substitute against Leicester City, he has been involved in every matchday squad - 14 of them - and has started eight out of the last nine games.
“For me, Fred did well to start with, then he hit a difficult period,”reflected Ole.
“Then when I came in, he found it hard. Then he had a very good period and now he’s having a very good period again.
“He’s showing what we see in him. He’s more confident, he believes more in himself.
“He has come into a new country, a new club, the biggest club in the world. He’s learning the language, he’s speaking good English now, so I don’t have to speak very slowly when we talk to him. You can see in training that he’s happy.”
The Brazilian has shown the manager in recent games what his strengths are, and while it remains to be seen who Solskjaer will select and how he’ll set up his side at Bramall Lane, his recent praise indicates that Fred could play a leading role.
