Neville to play in United Legends game
Gary Neville is the latest name to be confirmed in the Manchester United Legends squad taking on a team of former Liverpool players at Old Trafford on Saturday 21 May.
The former England full-back, who made 602 appearances in a 19-year, silverware-laden club career, endeared himself to the United faithful with his passionate displays, particularly against our Legends of the North opponents Liverpool!
Gary said: “I’m really looking forward to catching up with lads who I shared many great moments with, but we know the reason we’re doing this is for the benefit of the Manchester United Foundation.
“I’m passionate about supporting young people in Greater Manchester and giving them opportunities to succeed in life, and I know the Foundation do that so well. I’ve no doubt that United fans will come out in their numbers to support a great cause and I look forward to seeing them on 21 May.”
For example, in 2019, the former defender was joined by three of his fellow Class of ’92 graduates in a football coaching session with Foundation participants.
Also present that day was Nicky Butt, who will join Gary in returning to the Theatre of Dreams on 21 May, along with other stellar names including Patrice Evra, Diego Forlan, Dimitar Berbatov and Antonio Valencia. The United squad will be managed by legendary Reds captain Bryan Robson.
Fans attending the match will be helping to raise vital funds for many community projects, as the Foundation continues its work to support the young people of Greater Manchester.
And the crowd at Old Trafford will, of course, also get the chance to see some of the greatest names to have graced the hallowed turf in the Premier League era.
