His last outing for the Blues came on Monday, when recently promoted Sheffield United triumphed 2-1 on their visit to St. Andrew's.

Since then, the United youngster has used his official Instagram account to convey his thanks to everyone at the Championship club for his time there this season.

Another young Red who has been expressing his gratitude to a loan club is Charlie Savage, following Forest Green Rovers’ final match of the 2022/23 campaign.

Savage spent the second half of the season at The New Lawn, playing in each of the team’s final 15 games of the League One season. He notably netted his first senior goal against Bristol Rovers in March.

The Academy midfielder will have learned plenty from the spell, despite Rovers' unfortunate relegation from the third tier.

After their final game of the season against Cambridge United on Sunday, the 20-year-old commented on social media: “My time on loan at Forest Green Rovers comes to an end today.

“I would like to thank [manager] Duncan Ferguson especially, and all the staff for helping me so much.

“I would also like to thank the fans for their amazing support.”

Elsewhere, young United forward Charlie McNeill has also been wishing his loan club well on Instagram.

The 19-year-old spent the second half of the campaign with League Two side Newport County and made 20 appearances. In fact, he was ever-present in the Exiles' fourth-tier campaign following his deadline-day move to Rodney Parade at the end of January.

The club finished the season just a point outside the top half in League Two, and looking back on his time in Wales, McNeill said: “Thank you, Newport County. Staff, players and fans.

“I’ve loved every minute of it and I wish you all the very best for next season! Amber army.”

Congratulations to Charlie, Charlie and Hannibal on their respective loan spells.
