Hannibal wins Goal of the Season award

Hannibal's wonderful free-kick for loan side Birmingham City has been chosen as the club's Goal of the Season for the 2022/23 campaign.

Netting his first goal in senior football, the 20-year-old's cheeky set-piece against rivals West Bromwich Albion helped Blues on the way to a 2-0 victory back in February, with the United man also turning provider for the second goal.

It's been a fruitful campaign for the Tunisia international in the Midlands, with Hannibal having made 40 appearances for John Eustace's side, ahead of City's final game of the season on Monday against promoted Sheffield United.

Set to return to Carrington this summer following the end of his temporary switch, the youngster has registered six assists in both the Championship and the Emirates FA Cup.

Having also played at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar back in November, the Reds midfielder has managed something of a breakthrough campaign in regards to his ongoing development.
Speaking following his strike against West Brom back in February, the 20-year-old told Sky Sports of the honour he felt after opening his account in senior football.

''It was a great game first, a great derby and I [also] had the chance to score,'' he told the broadcasters, at the time.

''I am very happy, the atmosphere was really nice and I have to enjoy the moment.''

The young United midfielder's first senior goal helped his loan club Birmingham win a Midlands derby on Friday night.

Birmingham could still finish as high as 16th should they emerge victorious against the second-placed Blades on Monday, having amassed 53 points in England's second tier so far this term.
