Maguire and Shaw injury latest
Erik ten Hag says Manchester United need to assess the injuries suffered by England internationals Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw.
Maguire was forced off in the first half of our final UEFA Champions League Group A game against Bayern Munich, which ended in a 1-0 loss to the Germans. The reigning Premier League Player of the Month has been in excellent form of late, since winning his place back in the side.
The defender had done well again, performing with confidence, but pulled up with what looked like an issue with his groin, in the 38th minute. As he held off Jamal Musiala, he winced in pain as play was halted.
After receiving treatment, Maguire tried to give it a go but was, almost instantly, forced to admit defeat and left the field, saluting the supporters who offered him a warm ovation.
The experienced Jonny Evans took his place at the heart of the back four, alongside the recalled Raphael Varane.
There was a further concern when Shaw failed to reappear for the second half.
The left-back was feeling his hamstring and made way for Aaron Wan-Bissaka, with Diogo Dalot switching sides.
"I can't say in this moment," Ten Hag admitted, when quizzed on the matter by TNT Sports. "We obviously have to wait 24 hours and then we will have an assessment and diagnosis so we have to wait for it."
We will provide another update when available, with our next Premier League assignment on Sunday, away to leaders Liverpool in a 16:30 GMT kick-off.
