Solskjaer provides an update on Maguire's scan

Harry Maguire is facing a race against time to be fit for Manchester United’s Europa League final date with Villarreal on 26 May.

The Reds skipper injured his ankle in the weekend win at Aston Villa, bringing to an end his run of playing in every single minute of Premier League action since joining the club from Leicester City.

It leaves Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with an anxious wait over the availability of the England international, who is out of the game against his former club tonight (Tuesday). He could also be absent for the remaining league fixtures against Liverpool, Fulham and Wolves.

"He's obviously had the scans and the good news is there is no fracture," Ole revealed to MUTV's Stewart Gardner in his pre-match interview.

"[There's] Ligament damage but hopefully we will see him again this season. Hopefully, he'll be ready for the final."

Eric Bailly came on for Maguire at Villa Park and the former Villarreal centre-back starts again against the Foxes at Old Trafford, partnering Axel Tuanzebe as the boss makes 10 changes to his line-up.

Only Mason Greenwood retains his place from the weekend.
