Manchester United are into the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup after an important 3-0 victory over Charlton Athletic.

Our captain, Harry Maguire, played every minute of the match and helped the Reds progress to the next round, keeping a clean sheet in the process.

As we head into the semi-finals, Maguire expressed his belief that United must perform when the "crunch time" comes.

Maguire: We got the job done

There are areas for improvement but Harry Maguire says United are happy to reach the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup...

“This club demands trophies," he said in a post-match interview with MUTV. "This club is about winning and it has been far too long. It has been far too long for the fans, the staff, and the players.

“We’ve got to take each competition seriously. We’re still in every competition this season. Last season was a disaster in all competitions.

“We’re striving for improvement, we know we’ve got to improve, but the crunch time is still to come and we’ve got to perform when it does.”

Reflecting further on the win over Charlton, Harry has called on the Reds to be more clinical, with United having led by just one goal for the majority of the match.

“We knew it would be tough out there, but we got a good first goal, we worked it really well,” he said.

“We started the game really well. We should be a bit more clinical and ruthless with our moments. We got in so many good situations and let ourselves down with the final ball.

“But it was a good night in the end and we got the job done. These competitions are about winning and we’ve done that tonight.”

Another clean sheet on the board for the United defence.

Our no.5 was also quick to praise Marcus Rashford, who entered the fray in the second half and helped secure safe passage to the semi-finals with two late goals.

“I know what he’s capable of," said Maguire of our no.10, who has now scored seven goals in six games since the restart. "I’ve seen him for four years now, I’ve seen him at England before that, how talented he was.

“I can’t speak highly enough of his talent and it’s really good to see him playing with a smile on his face and enjoying his football.

“He’s a really important player for us and if we’re going to do well this season we need him firing, and I’m really happy he’s doing that for the team and for himself.”
