Maguire grateful for medics' green light
Manchester United defender Harry Maguire says his commitment to helping the Reds overcome Fulham was never in doubt, despite suffering an early knock.
Erik ten Hag's side returned to winning ways in fine fashion, with Bruno Fernandes's injury-time winner sparking wild scenes in the away section.
Battling hard to record a first clean sheet since our 1-0 home success over Copenhagen, Harry partnered Jonny Evans at the heart of our defence, with Victor Lindelof missing out due to illness.
After colliding with Rodrigo Muniz during the first two minutes in west London, Harry told MUTV of his endeavours to continue battling for his team-mates.
Maguire: I’m always going to carry on
Despite taking an early knock, Harry says his commitment to helping United secure three points was never in doubt...
“If the doc says I’m okay to carry on, I’m always going to carry on.
“So, no, it felt good to be able to get through the game, help the lads to a clean sheet and more importantly three points.”
We then return to Old Trafford, and the Premier League next weekend with competition new-boys Luton Town arriving in M16. Maguire says picking up vital points in both games is very much the priority.
“In the Champions League at Copenhagen, we know that is going to be tough, they don't get beat at home very often.
“That's going to be tough, then it's back to Old Trafford to put things right because our home form has been nowhere near good enough.
Celebrations at the Cottage
GalleryFor the second year in a row at Fulham, United enjoyed amazing late scenes in front of our travelling fans.
“But we know we have a lot of improvement to do to get to where we want to be in the Premier League and in the Champions League group too.”
