Maguire: We want to be united in our response

Maguire and co will make the journey down to the capital for Saturday’s Premier League fixture hoping to make a positive statement off the back of the heavy home loss to our Merseyside-based rivals last time out.

With no midweek match outside of an international break for the first time since August, United have subsequently had a full week to prepare for the meeting with Nuno Espirito Santo’s men. 

The skipper admits it has been difficult for everyone at the club to process last Sunday’s result over recent days but says the squad have used that time proactively to regroup and look at areas in which we can improve, as well as putting the work in on the training pitch. 

“It’s been a tough week obviously, you can’t just brush these things aside, especially when you lose to your rivals. To lose in the manner that we did was so disappointing,” he tells club media in an exclusive interview.

“We’ve obviously had big discussions, we’ve analysed the game and the goals and looked at how we can do better and improve. 

“That’s the most important thing now, we need to come together as a group and a club. We know our fans will be with us and come Saturday at Tottenham, like I said, they will be there in their numbers and I’m sure they’ll be singing and chanting and be right with us and getting behind us.”

Post-match on Sunday, Harry commended the continued vocal backing from our supporters in the Old Trafford stands and he knows again that the United faithful will be with us every step of the way at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this weekend. 

He now says it is up to him and his team-mates to give all of our supporters what they deserve on the pitch, as we strive to turn around our recent fortunes.

“We know as a group of players we need to make sure we’re together and we’re positive,” the 28-year-old explains.

“It’s a tough one to move on from but we need to move on. 

“There are lots of games to play in the Premier League, we’re in a strong position in the group in the Champions League and we’re still early on in the season. And it’s a season in which we know we can still achieve things."
