Ladd: We’re confident and ready to go

Manchester United midfielder Hayley Ladd says there is ‘confidence’ in the camp heading into Sunday’s derby against our cross-city rivals.

Marc Skinner’s side come into what will be the first women's Manchester derby at Old Trafford on the back of two high-scoring victories - a 7-0 thumping of Everton in the Conti Cup and a 5-0 win over West Ham in the WSL.

“Coming off the back of a really pleasing result and performance last weekend, you naturally get good vibes coming in on the following couple of days,” Ladd told club media.

“You can feel the energy everyone is building towards the weekend, I think everyone is feeling confident and ready to go.”
City, meanwhile, will be aiming to bounce back from their narrow defeat to Brighton last time out.

“I think last season you could probably predict the results of a lot of games and I think that is definitely changing,” she continued.

“But City are a really strong team and we know they’re going to win a lot of games - we’ll have to be at our best to rival them, but we’re not too focused on them.”
Wales international Ladd believes Sunday’s showpiece is going to be a ‘huge’ game, but assures the Reds will approach it like any other game.

“In terms of our preparation, I think we’re quite [in the mindset of] nothing changes in-house,” Ladd told us.

“Everyone is in agreement that we keep everything the same and just try to make sure we’re stepping it up on the pitch - but nothing else changes.

“Our performances have all been good enough recently and we just want to emulate those and put that onto the pitch on Sunday.”

With over 40,000 tickets sold for this historic derby, we’re on course to smash our previous record at The Theatre of Dreams of 30,196 for Aston Villa’s visit last December.

“People are missing out if they don’t get involved,” Ladd insisted. “I think it’s going to be such a brilliant game, such a great spectacle.

“We don’t like playing against them, they don’t like playing against us - I think it will be a great game and definitely not one to miss out on.”

The game is scheduled for 16.30 GMT on Sunday 19 November and tickets are priced at £15 for adults and £7.50 for fans aged under 16 or over 65.
