Action and reaction: Brighton 0 United 3

Manchester United booked their Carabao Cup quarter-final place on Wednesday night, after a job well done at the Amex Stadium against Brighton & Hove Albion.

Scott McTominay opened the scoring just before the break by heading home Juan Mata's precise free-kick and, although Brighton responded well in the second period, goals from Mata and substitute Paul Pogba put the game beyond doubt in the second period.

DETAILS OF THE MATCH

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made 10 changes to the starting XI from Saturday's win against the same opposition - in the Premier League - and the boss was rewarded with several strong performances, in particular from Man-of-the-Match Mata, Eric Bailly, Dean Henderson and Donny van de Beek.
