How many FPL managers are backing United's new signings?

Thursday 14 September 2023 07:00

Manchester United added four new faces to our squad at the end of the 2023 summer transfer window.

Add that to the earlier acquisitions of Mason Mount, Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund, and United have several new players looking to make their mark at Old Trafford.

Players such as Hojlund and left-back Sergio Reguilon, who were both in our squad for the loss against Arsenal last time out, will be in contention again when we host Brighton & Hove Albion at Old Trafford on Saturday (15:00 BST).

Erik ten Hag could also provide an update on Sofyan Amrabat, after the Morocco international withdrew from his nation's squad due to a minor back injury, and Mount, who was ruled out of our last two matches.

Any news from the boss will come in Friday's press conference at Carrington, which you will be able to watch in full on ManUtd.com and in our app.

The Debate: Hot topic | Did Rasmus Hojlund's cameo at Arsenal show he's ready to start against Brighton?

All of our summer recruits, including Jonny Evans and Altay Bayindir, prompt interest, so we thought it was well worth looking at their prices on Fantasy Premier League - the hugely popular game - in addition to how many managers across the world have them selected in their squads for the upcoming round of fixtures.

As we know from last season, Luke Shaw (currently out injured), Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford have been among the most popular picks in FPL over the years.

Hojlund, who will hope his bullish cameo against Arsenal last time out impressed Ten Hag, is available for £7 million and, at present, is only owned by 1.7 per cent of players. With matches against Brighton (H), Burnley (A) and Crystal Palace (H) coming up for the Reds, the Denmark international will no doubt be looking to make an impact and could, therefore, reward his owners in the game.

Reguilon was on the bench at Arsenal last time out, having joined on loan from Tottenham Hotspur due to injuries to fellow left-backs Shaw and Tyrell Malacia.

The Spaniard costs £4.4m in the game and has an ownership of just 0.3%, meaning he could surprise a few people if he gets to make his bow.

The same reasoning could be applied to goalkeeper Andre Onana, who is a £5.0m option with one clean sheet to his name so far this season. Due to his pricing, and posiive early impact, however, the Cameroon international is owned by almost a quarter (24.5%) of FPL players.

Andre played his part in his first international appearance since 2022, while plenty of other Reds were also in action.

Fellow goalkeeping arrival Bayindir is among the cheapest stoppers at £4.0m, while Evans will set you back the same amount.

In the engine room, Mount demonstrated many attacking returns for Chelsea in previous seasons and, despite being absent due to injury, Ten Hag could provide an update on his fitness prior to the Brighton clash. Mount is valued at £6.8m and is owned by 1.1% of players, although this low number is likely due to his recent unavailability.

Another midfield option is Amrabat, who is worth £5.0m in FPL at the moment. While very few players have him in their teams at present, his ownership could rise if he is passed fit and looks set to be involved against the Seagulls on Saturday.
