How to watch and follow Everton v United Women

Thursday 26 September 2024 11:00

Manchester United Women return to Barclays Women's Super League action this Sunday (29 September) with a trip to face Everton.

It was a perfect start to the new season for Marc Skinner's side last time out, opening the campaign with an assured 3-0 win in front of the Old Trafford crowd.

Geyse, Leah Galton and Grace Clinton — who spent last season on loan with Tottenham Hotspur — provided the goals, and the trio will hope to lead their side to back-to-back victories this weekend.

HOW TO WATCH AND FOLLOW: EVERTON V UNITED WOMEN

Our game is set for a 14:00 BST kick-off at Walton Hall Park in Liverpool and the match will be streamed live on the official WSL YouTube channel.

Alternatively, you can tune in to ManUtd.com for our live radio commentary, and stay there or head to the official United App for live updates, images and our match report after the final whistle has blown.

A little later in the day, you'll find post-match reaction from Marc Skinner across our channels, with short and extended highlights dropping the following day.

TEAM NEWS

United will be without Hannah Blundell for the entirety of the campaign as she takes time away from the pitch to have her first child. Evie Rabjohn is also set to be unavailable for selection, as she recovers from a ruptured anterior-cruciate ligament suffered in July.

However, there was good news on the injury front for Gabby George in our WSL opener, as she made her return following a long absence last term, also with an ACL injury. She replaced Galton from the bench in the 83rd minute, suggesting she will be ready for action moving forwards.

We also still await the return of Emma Watson, who was with the team in their pre-season preparations but was not part of last week's matchday squad. Further updates, for the likes of Watson, could be delivered by Skinner in his press conference on Friday.

Our opponents will contest Sunday's game without the services of midfielder Aurora Galli, who sustained an ACL injury in the Toffees' opening game against Brighton & Hove Albion last weekend.

OPPOSITION WATCH

Despite looking to improve on their eighth-placed finish in the WSL last term, the Toffees got off to a tough start against Brighton at the Broadfield Stadium last weekend.

Not only did they see Galli begin a lengthy lay-off with a significant injury, but they suffered a bruising 4-0 defeat away to the Seagulls, with Kiko Seike bagging a hat-trick for the hosts.

Everton started with three summer signings on the pitch — Toni Payne, Inma Gabarro and Veatriki Sarri — so will be hoping it's a case of their new faces gelling with the rest of the squad, but Skinner's side will feel optimistic that we can stall that acclimatisation for another week.

PREVIOUS MEETINGS

A look at our matches with the Merseysiders last season should be enough to provide hope that a second successive win could be on the way for the Reds.

Having played three times across the WSL and Conti Cup last term, United secured victories each time; 5-0, 7-0 and 4-1.

That seven-goal triumph in the Conti Cup at Leigh Sports Village was goalkeeper Phallon Tullis-Joyce's United debut. Having taken over from the departed Mary Earps between the sticks this season — and introducing herself to the WSL for the first time last weekend — she'll be aiming for a similarly solid performance this time around.
