How to watch and follow FC Porto v United

Tuesday 01 October 2024 10:00

Thursday's Europa League match between FC Porto and Manchester United will be only the fourth time the Reds have played a competitive game at the Estadio do Dragao.

Erik ten Hag's team take on the Portuguese giants in the new league format of the competition, having hosted Dutch side FC Twente in the first matchday, last Wednesday.

Having followed the 1-1 draw against Twente with a disappointing 3-0 defeat at home to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, getting back on track will be the main target for Erik and his side in our first European away game of the campaign.

Ahead of the match, we have detailed the key TV info, team news and more below...

TEAM NEWS

Victor Lindelof featured on the United bench in Sunday's game against Spurs, while Tyrell Malacia was involved in training last week as he makes progress in his recovery.

Both Kobbie Mainoo and Mason Mount were forced off, with Erik explaining that he needs to "see how they recover" in the coming days before he can confirm their availability for the trip to Portugal.

Harry Maguire was not involved on Sunday, due to sustaining a knock in training, and Leny Yoro and Luke Shaw remain out through injury.

Porto boss Vitor Bruno has been without defender Ivan Marcano and midfielder Fabio Vieira - on loan from Arsenal - in recent games. The hosts' squad is expected to be confirmed before matchday comes around.

THE OPPOSITION

The two clubs have met eight times in our history, with United winning three of these fixtures in comparison to Porto's two victories.

The last time the Reds visited the Estadio do Dragao, Cristiano Ronaldo's long-range rocket sealed a narrow 1-0 victory for Sir Alex Ferguson's side.

Porto thrashed Arouca 4-0 on Sunday and sit three points below leaders Sporting in the Primeira Liga, with six wins from their first seven outings in 2024/25.

Despite being beaten 3-2 by Bodo/Glimt in matchday one, the Portuguese side registered a whopping 28 shots, their most in a European match since they played Roma in 2019.
