How to watch and follow United v Dortmund

Friday 28 July 2023 13:22

Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund will meet on the pitch for the first time since 2016, marking our final game of Tour 2023 in the US.

The Reds will go toe-to-toe with the Bundesliga giants in Las Vegas, as Erik ten Hag's side seek a positive end to our pre-season venture across the States.

Having most recently succumbed to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Real Madrid in Houston, supporters were able to catch a first glimpse of new signing Andre Onana, following his move from Internazionale earlier this month.

Our meeting with BVB is set to be another mouthwatering clash and fans inside the Allegiant Stadium will be treated to a first meeting between the two sides in seven years.

Ahead of the contest in Nevada, here's all the information you need, from team news to past fixtures...

HOW CAN YOU WATCH AND FOLLOW THE GAME?

Red will meet yellow at the state-of-the-art Allegiant Stadium – home of NFL side Las Vegas Raiders – at 18:00 local time on Sunday 30 July (02:00 BST on Monday 31 July).

WHAT’S THE TEAM NEWS?

United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo may miss the clash with Edin Terzic's side, after the 18-year-old was forced to be withdrawn during the opening stages against Real.

Amad is also a doubt following his withdrawal against Arsenal on Saturday, with it later revealed by the player that his injury is not as serious as first feared.

Anthony Martial continues to build up his fitness and has been pictured resuming team training in the recent days. The French forward is yet to feature on Tour 2023 for the Reds this summer.

Fred has not linked up with the squad due to a personal issue but Jonny Evans and Joe Hugill have bolstered the group.

Erik ten Hag has made a promise to the youngster after he was forced off early on against Real Madrid.

For our opponents, star midfielder Jude Bellingham has parted for Real Madrid and recently netted his first goal for the Spanish club in their 2-0 win over United just days ago.

Marcel Sabizter could well feature against his former side following his transfer from Bayern Munich.

Mateu Morey and Gio Reyna remain long-term absentees for the Black and Yellow and are unlikely to play in part in Dortmund's pre-season outings.

A young-looking Marcus Rashford featured the last time we came up against Dortmund.

PAST MEETINGS

As mentioned in the opening, this will be our first meeting with the German outfit since a 2016 pre-season clash in China, in which our opponents triumphed 4-1.

You have to go back to April 1997 for the last competitive clash between the two sides, a 1-0 victory for Dortmund at Old Trafford in the Champions League semi-final second leg – a tie they would win 2-0 in on aggregate after a victory by the same scoreline in the reverse instalment.

Those last-four contests are the only times BVB have got the better of us when we’ve faced them in a competition, with United undefeated across the other match-ups (three wins and a draw), ensuring we came out on top in two-legged ties played in the European Cup first round of 1956 and the 1964 Fairs Cup second round.

Watch every minute of the action and get behind-the-scenes access, only on MUTV.
