WHAT'S THE TEAM NEWS?

United travelled out of Manchester straight after Sunday's 2-0 Premier League victory over Aston Villa.

Ruben Amorim has selected a 32-man squad for the trip to Asia, which contains a blend of experience and youth.

Matthijs de Ligt, Alejandro Garnacho, Andre Onana, Luke Shaw and Joshua Zirkzee have all been picked despite missing the clash with Unai Emery's side, but Noussair Mazraoui and Leny Yoro have not made the trip.

Christian Eriksen and Victor Lindelof are also absent, as their time with the Reds comes to an end, although Jonny Evans is here.

The Reds are taking a 32-man group to the Far East for the two post-season friendlies.

WHO ARE THE OPPOSITION?

The ASEAN All-Stars were first formed in 2014, for a charity event in aid of victims of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines. Representing the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, or ASEAN, the team has been reunited for the Reds' visit.

South Korean manager Kim Sang-sik has called up a 22-man group for the fixture, with players from Australia, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam featuring.

There's plenty of home interest too, due to the presence of Malaysia internationals Sergio Ezequiel Aguero, Azam Azmi, Declan Lambert, Haziq Nadzli and Adib Ra'op.

“It’s an incredible honour to be selected for such a historic match. Playing against one of the biggest clubs in the world, alongside some of the best players from this region, is truly a dream come true," said Argentina-born Aguero.

“What makes it even more special is the chance to represent Malaysia at this stage, carrying the flag in front of our home fans means everything to me.”

WHEN DID WE LAST PLAY IN MALAYSIA?

This is United's first visit to the south-east Asian country since July 2009.

Back then, we beat the Malaysia XI 3-2 at the same stadium we'll play in on Wednesday, courtesy of goals from Nani - who is out here with the club - Michael Owen and Wayne Rooney.

After a subsequent trip to Indonesia was cancelled due to bombings in Jakarta, a second match was organised.

This time the Reds emerged 2-0 victors, with Federico Macheda joining Owen on the scoresheet.
