Inside Story of Mbeumo's first session
Bryan Mbeumo took part in his first Manchester United training session on Tuesday - and we were there to see him.
The Reds' acquisition from Brentford sealed his move to Old Trafford on Monday night and linked up with his new colleagues at Carrington as the squad prepared for the flight to the United States and the American leg of Tour 2025, presented by Snapdragon.
After Diogo Dalot was the first member of the squad out onto the pitches, when our new no.19 made his entrance, he was initially in conversation with Amad and Leny Yoro. A first bit of ball work involved a short session of keeping the ball in the air between him, Amad, Yoro and Diego Leon.
Ruben Amorim then gathered everybody together to welcome the new arrival and led the applause as Bryan felt the warmth of his colleagues upon his introduction to the group.
Getting up to speed
GalleryBryan Mbeumo trained with his team-mates for the first time on Tuesday, before the squad flew to the States.
Having been present at previous sessions recently, while it was glorious sunshine in the past fortnight, the rain unfortunately accompanied this workout with intermittent showers providing a much cooler environment.
It would have been easy to predict the new boy would be one of those made to run the gauntlet through a tunnel created by his team-mates, and this was the case as it promoted a sense of bonding with the forward, who bagged 20 Premier League goals last term.
For good measure, he went through again on his own!
Next up were rondos and, again, the players wasted little time introducing Mbeumo to the regular banter and then will have been impressed by some of the nimble footwork he displayed in moving the ball on in tight situations.
After only a few minutes, there was a broad smile across his face as he began to feel more familiar with the setting, clearly enjoying the good-natured competitiveness of the session.
A series of stretches, leaps and hops were then designed to work the muscles as the group were put through their paces ahead of a long flight to Chicago in the afternoon.
Our latest signing was eased in gently, engaging in some crossing practice, working a position on either foot and delivering the ball into the danger zone, where Yoro would look to clear it.
There were chats with the coaching staff and Ruben was issuing specific instructions to Mbeumo, when he took up his position in some tactical work, leading to his first shots as a United player.
Afterwards, he had a chat with Noussair Mazraoui at one point, before making his way back to the changing room with the Morocco international, Yoro and Rasmus Hojlund.

Meanwhile, Amad was keen to discover if we had captured footage of one of the highlights of the match at the end of the session. The Ivorian expertly smashed a first-time volley into the net and was clearly pleased with his efforts!
As for Mbeumo, there will be ample opportunity to get to know his colleagues better in the days to follow in the United States. Amorim has spoken a few times about the importance of building squad unity and camaraderie between the staff and players during such trips and this is why it is extremely positive that his transfer was concluded in time to participate in the Premier League Summer Series.
The three American games, live on MUTV for subscribers based outside the US, present a chance for fans to hopefully get their first glimpse of our new man in United colours.
I am sure he is going to receive just as warm a welcome from the supporters as he had on his opening day at Carrington.
