What's in the new issue of Inside United?

Tuesday 14 February 2023 16:30

The fresh edition of the official club magazine Inside United is on sale from today (Tuesday 14 February) with Tyrell Malacia taking centre-stage on the front cover – looking relaxed and cool in club hoodie, complete with trademark smile.

The main coverline, ‘energy’, is exactly what the Dutchman brings to the pitch – and just what the Reds need plenty of during this hectic period of the campaign.

The ‘defensive dynamo’, as he is described on the cover, gives us an exclusive interview which you can only read first in the magazine.

If you're enjoying Malacia's debut season, you'll love the new issue of our magazine.
Tyrell discusses his adaptation to the Premier League and English football during his first six months or so as a United player, telling us: “I know myself, I know I can adapt quickly – so I’m happy.”

He also declares what he has made of the United supporters and atmosphere at Old Trafford, particularly in the big games (“amazing, especially against Man City – the fans were amazing”) and his high hopes for what the Reds can achieve by the end of the season.

“We have a good team – we have to be focused and keep improving, and then everything is possible.”

Ty also reveals what he enjoys away from the pitch, including the sort of music he listens to and indeed who he had on in the car on the way to training that day – no spoilers here, you’ll have to get a copy of the mag in order to find out!

Aside from the big interview with Malacia, there’s a huge focus on cup football across the new issue of Inside United. As the cover promises, it’s a ‘knockout special edition’ with in-depth previews for all the exciting fixtures that are coming up in various competitions.

There are the fifth-round matches in the FA Cup for both our men (West Ham) and women (Durham), the mouth-watering tie with Barcelona in the Europa League, and of course the Carabao Cup final against Newcastle United at Wembley. Big games = suitably big special section in the magazine!

There’s loads more on the cup theme elsewhere, including Inside United’s attempt to crown the ultimate cup knockout game in club history – 16 classic Reds ties battle it out for that honour, with one being named our greatest ever. You’ll have to get the mag to see which match earns that accolade, but rest assured it’s an absolute belter!

Fans' advice for Carabao Cup final

Wembley Stadium has issued some important information for United supporters heading there on 26 February.

A couple of legends from club history are included in the mag’s cup content. Firstly, in an exclusive extract from a superb new biography of Duncan Edwards, there's a brilliant story about what the great man once did to Chelsea.

We also mark the 60th anniversary of Pat Crerand’s arrival at United in 1963 and remember how he immediately helped the Reds to win the FA Cup – setting the platform for the glory that was to come during that decade, when Best, Law, Charlton and the rest swept all of England and Europe before them under the guidance of Sir Matt Busby.

Elsewhere in the magazine, there are welcomes for new boys Wout Weghorst and Marcel Sabitzer, as well as a salute to Bruno Fernandes in honour of his recent landmarks of three years as a Red and 100 (and counting) goal involvements – every one of those assists and goals is listed out in tribute to that terrific ton.

It’s the complete package to accompany every United fan on our journey through the next month of action, and it’s on sale now. You can buy the March edition of Inside United in shops, at the Megastore, at Old Trafford on matchdays, or you can buy it online or subscribe via manutd.com/magazine.
