Inside United magazine: Remembering The King
The March edition of Inside United magazine salutes the great Denis Law, a Manchester United icon and truly adored giant of the club.
This special issue of Inside United celebrates the incomparable genius of Law, telling the story of his unique life and career, and hearing from great contemporaries who knew him best.
THE STORY OF OUR COVER
When it came to choosing a cover image, a difficult decision had to be made.
A great number of images were considered, from various stages of The King’s United reign, but, in the end, we opted for a classic shot of Denis in his youthful, wily, goalscoring prime.
The regal image was taken during the 1962/63 season - Law's first at United, when he scored 29 goals in 44 appearances and lifted the FA Cup.
It was originally in black and white, before we asked colourisation expert Andy Imrie to create something special.
The proud Scot, known as @AndythePhotoDr on social media platforms, may be familiar to Reds supporters for creating the popular United In Colour book, in which hundreds of black-and-white photos were brought to life with vivid tones.
For our special edition of Inside United, Andy spent time transforming our photo into colour, highlighting Law's pristine red-and-white United kit, his immaculate blond hair and the lush green grass of the pitch.
In our opinion, it’s a perfect cover for our magazine’s tribute to The King.

GalleryIn April 1992, the King of the Stretford End visited his terrace one last time, before it was rebuilt as an all-seater.
In a touch of class, Andy has chosen to donate his fee to the Denis Law Legacy Trust, a registered charity that operates and delivers a number-of-free to access programmes and positive destination activities for young people in Aberdeen.
