Latest Inside United out now!
The new edition of our official monthly magazine Inside United is on sale from today (Tuesday) – and in its lead interview, cover star Joshua Zirkzee reveals his personal heroes and inspirations.
In a Q&A that you can only read first and fully in the magazine, our flamboyant Dutch attacker talks extensively about the people who have been his guides, motivators and mentors on his journey so far – starting at home with the parents and grandparents whom, Josh says “just let me be me” in his early days, a time when “my life was just about football”.
As he got older and developed, he began to draw inspiration from other sportspeople – including footballers but also, in particular, from on the basketball court. Allen Iverson was the baller who really fired Joshua’s imagination and got him thinking, while his dog’s name Kobe will give you a clue to another star he looked up to. On the football pitch, meanwhile, it was a Brazilian with true Samba flair who caught his eye.
In the in-depth interview, Josh goes on to talk about some formative years coming of age among friends in the Bayern Munich Academy (“we went from boys to men together”), the awe he has for the United fans and their ardent backing (“it’s incredible”), and even his allegiance in the Drake v Lamar saga… plus his fantasy five dinner guests, also featuring a musician. All is revealed inside the magazine.
Elsewhere in the issue, there is more exclusive interview content with United Women’s Gabby George. The defender, who signed for the club last season, is back in action after recovering from the knee injury that curtailed her maiden campaign last year, and her determination to now make the most of the opportunity to be playing for her hometown club comes through loud and clear in a compelling Q&A.
The goalkeepers’ union is represented through an interview with Altay Bayindir, who gives behind-the-scenes insight on keeper training at Carrington, as well as a compendium of Premier League penalty saves, after Andre Onana added his name to the list of spot-kick heroes earlier this campaign.
You’ll also find Sir Bobby Charlton – marking the first anniversary of his passing later this month – George Best and Sir Matt Busby inside the issue, as well as loads of regular features such as match previews, Academy insight and history, and plenty of fan and supporter content.
Inside United November 2024 edition is on sale now in newsagents, shops, at Old Trafford on matchdays (starting against Brentford this Saturday), and can be bought or subscribed to online here.
