Women's internationals guide for October

Monday 20 October 2025 13:10

Sixteen Manchester United Women players have been called up by their countries for October's international fixtures.

It's been a strong start to the campaign for Marc Skinner's Reds and that is reflected in the squad selections, as the domestic action takes a backseat.

UEFA Nations League semi-finals and global friendlies are on the agenda for our players before we next play, on Sunday 2 November.

Here's your complete day-by-day guide...

FRIDAY 24 OCTOBER

USA v Portugal (00:00 BST)
Germany v France (16:45 BST)
Poland v Netherlands (17:00 BST)
Italy v Japan (17:15 BST)
Switzerland v Canada (18:30 BST)
Spain v Sweden (19:00 BST)

Friday is a bumper day of action and USA kick it off as they take on Portugal in a friendly, which gets under way at midnight UK time. Phallon Tullis-Joyce made her international debut in April and will be aiming to establish herself as Emma Hayes’s no.1, as the four-time world champions look to retool in goal following the retirement of long-term incumbent Alyssa Naeher.

The headline-grabbing fixtures in Europe are the Nations League semi-finals, involving France’s Melvine Malard and our Swedish trio of Fridolina Rolfo, Anna Sandberg and Julia Zigiotti Olme. Both nations are away in the first leg, with Les Bleues visiting Germany and the Scandinavians travelling to face holders Spain.

Jayde Riviere has been called up by Canada for their friendly with Switzerland in Lucerne, while Dominique Janssen is in the Netherlands squad, as they play Poland in Gdansk. Hinata Miyazawa is part of Japan’s selection for a meeting with Italy.

SATURDAY 25 OCTOBER

Wales v Australia (14:00 BST)
England v Brazil (17:30 BST)

The two fixtures on Saturday are both friendlies and United Women could have three representatives in each. Mared Griffiths, Scarlett Hill and Safia Middleton-Patel could feature when Wales go up against Australia at the Cardiff City Stadium, while England play for the first time since the Euro 2025 triumph, with Brazil the visitors at the Etihad Stadium.

Maya Le Tissier and Ella Toone are in the squad, and Jess Park could represent England as a Red for the first time following her impressive first months with United.

SUNDAY 26 OCTOBER

USA v Portugal (20:00 GMT)

Just the one game to look out for on Sunday, as Phallon and the US play Portugal for the second time in three days. The clocks go back during the early hours in the UK, so it’s worth bearing in mind that kick-offs from here onwards are listed as GMT, rather than BST.

England v Australia (19:00 GMT)
Netherlands v Canada (19:45 GMT)
Wales v Poland (19:45 GMT)
France v Germany (20:10 GMT)

Another action-packed day, with the second leg of the Nations League semis top of the bill. This time it’s Sweden up first, with France following later. There’s a couple of Reds head-to-heads to look out for too. Norway – featuring Lisa Naalsund and Elisabeth Terland, but not the injured Celin Bizet Donnum – host Japan, and the Netherlands face Canada.

Look out for the England and Wales friendlies too – we’ll have a round-up of all the games on Wednesday morning.

THURSDAY 30 OCTOBER

USA v New Zealand (00:00 GMT)

The Americans squeeze in a third and final friendly of the break, as New Zealand provide the opposition in Kansas City.
