Dorgu denied at the death as Lammens makes international bow

On a dramatic night of World Cup qualifying action, there was plenty for Manchester United fans to be proud of.

Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu looked like being the hero for Denmark when he made it 2-2 against Scotland late on, a result that would have sent the Scandinavians through to next summer's finals.

The United wing-back produced the calmest of finishes past Craig Gordon, only for the hosts to rally in injury time. Kieran Tierney produced a marvellous bending drive to restore the lead for Steve Clarke's men and Kenny McLean's audacious effort from inside his own half truly was the icing on the cake, amid chaotic scenes at Hampden Park.

Earlier in the 4-2 thriller, Napoli duo Scott McTominay and Rasmus Hojlund were on the scoresheet. Academy graduate McTominay produced an outstanding overhead kick to open the scoring, only for Hojlund, currently on loan from the Reds, to level from the penalty spot in the second half.

Altay Bayindir celebrates during Turkey's impressive draw in Spain.

It was a night when two of our goalkeepers started for their countries.

Senne Lammens made his senior bow for Belgium, getting the nod over Nottingham Forest's Mats Selz for the home tie against Liechtenstein.

It was a quiet night, in truth, for our summer signing, who only had one shot to deal with in a facile 7-0 triumph for the hosts that booked their place in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Four goals inside seven minutes illustrated the gulf in class between the two sides.

Altay Bayindir was also selected, by Turkey, as they did superbly to hold Spain to a 2-2 draw in Seville.

Turkey needed a seven-goal win to pip the European champions to top spot, so have to settle for a play-off place, but Bayindir made two excellent saves to deny Dani Olmo to help his nation achieve an impressive result.

Brazil drew 1-1 with Tunisia in a friendly in Lille. Casemiro was replaced on the hour mark by Fabinho, while Matheus Cunha played the first half, as Chelsea's Estevao got on the scoresheet.

Further afield, Noussair Mazraoui provided an assist as a 4-0 beating of Uganda racked up an 18th successive victory for the Africa Cup of Nations hosts. Our defender set up the second strike, by Ilias Saibari, to ensure the Atlas Lions remain in top form, ahead of the upcoming tournament.

Amad helped Ivory Coast beat Oman 2-0, coming off the bench in the second half, but Manuel Ugarte's Uruguay suffered a heavy 5-1 defeat to USA. Ugarte played the whole game as his midfield partner, Tottenham Hotspur's Rodrigo Bentancur, was sent off.

James Overy is still waiting for his senior Australia debut, after being an unused substitute in the 3-0 loss to Colombia, and Diego Leon also did not get off the bench, as Paraguay overcame Mexico 2-1.

Senne Lammens kept a clean sheet on his senior international debut.

Steve McClaren's Jamaica were held 0-0 as opponents Curacao became the smallest nation to ever reach the World Cup finals.

The Reggae Boyz were awarded a penalty a minute from the end of stoppage time, only for referee Ivan Barton to overturn his original decision on the back of a VAR review.

Our former assistant coach resigned after the final whistle, even though Jamaica have secured an intercontinental play-off place and could still make it through.

Among our younger players in action were Sekou Kone, who bagged both of Mali Under-23s' goals in a 2-2 draw with Indonesia, and Jack Fletcher, who came on to score in England Under-19s' 4-0 victory over Scotland, who were captained by his twin, Tyler Fletcher.
