Manchester United Women’s new signing Jane Ross is eager to begin the upcoming season after joining the Reds.

The striker moved to United this summer from Women Super League (WSL) rivals West Ham United Women and brings a wealth of experience to the team.

It will no doubt prove invaluable as the Reds begin a first WSL campaign, which Ross is looking forward to getting underway when we kick off a new term against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium in six weeks’ time.

“I’m really excited and looking forward to the season ahead,” Jane said in her first interview after signing for United.

“I’m looking forward to being a part of this club and this team, and competing in the WSL with them this season. I’m going to give 100 per cent for the team, work hard and hopefully score some goals.

“I’m settling in well so far and I’m really enjoying my time here. The two Scottish girls I already know have helped me settle in well,” she added.

“There’s a great environment in the team and there is great friendliness. Everyone’s making me feel at home.”
Jane began her career with Paisley Saints Ladies and enjoyed spells with Glasgow City and Swedish outfit Vittsjö GIK, before joining Manchester City in 2015.

The Scotland international spent three years in the sky blue half of the city and therefore is particularly looking forward to our season opener on 7 September.

“It’s a great fixture to be starting the season with and hopefully we can get a good attendance for the game,” she said. “I’m sure it’s going to be a great game for the fans to watch.”
Ross moved to West Ham in 2018 for a single season before joining the Reds, where she is preparing for her fifth year of WSL football.

“It’s going to be a very competitive league and all the teams are strengthening,” said the 29-year-old. “There’s quality in the league and I think it’s going to be an exciting season for us.”

As well as her vast experience at club level, the attacker has an almost unrivalled international pedigree and has wracked up an incredible 128 Scotland caps, while netting on 58 occasions.

Like her new United team-mates Kirsty Smith and Lizzie Arnot, Ross was part of this summer’s Scotland squad at the Women’s World Cup.
