Lingard a doubt for Bees encounter
Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard has emerged as a doubt for Wednesday's Premier League game at Brentford.
The England international came off the bench in the closing stages of our two most recent games, both against Aston Villa - the 1-0 victory in the Emirates FA Cup third-round tie at Old Trafford and Saturday's 2-2 draw at Villa Park.
With the Reds chasing three important points in a first league meeting with the Bees since the 1946/47 season, interim manager Ralf Rangnick will hope to take a strong squad to the capital.
Team news for Brentford game
ArticleRalf Rangnick brings us up to speed with his squad plans for the clash in the capital.
Rangnick has revealed in an interview with club media's Stewart Gardner, to be published in full on Wednesday morning, that Lingard has picked up an ankle injury that might force him out of the reckoning.
If he does miss out, United's next game is on Saturday, at home to West Ham United, where Jesse had a productive loan spell last term before scoring a beautiful winner against them at the London Stadium, back in September.
Luke Shaw and Scott McTominay are back from suspension after serving one-match bans in the Villa Park draw, as two Bruno Fernandes goals were not enough to clinch victory. The home side hit back through Jacob Ramsey and substitute Philippe Coutinho to earn a point.
Marcus Rashford and Cristiano Ronaldo will hopefully also return to the squad after injury.
The Reds are currently seventh in the table, while the Bees sit in 14th spot, ahead of the 20:00 GMT kick-off.
