Jesse Lingard in training.

Lingard steps up injury recovery process

Manchester United forward Jesse Lingard is stepping up his recovery from a short-term injury he suffered last week.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed last Friday, ahead of the Premier League game with Chelsea, that Jesse had suffered a knock and would miss the encounter.

“Jesse won’t be available so we’ll manage without them for a few weeks I think,” the boss said during the pre-match press conference.

The injury also forced Jesse to be left out of our squad for Wednesday’s 5-0 victory over RB Leipzig in the Champions League and he will not have recovered in time for the visit of Arsenal on Sunday.
However, our no.14 has began training separately from the rest of his United team-mates as he continues his recovery from the knock.

Lingard went through an individualised training session at the Aon Training Complex on Friday, and hopefully will be involved in first-team action again in the not-too-distant future.

The 27-year-old has played twice this season for the Reds - in our respective Carabao Cup victories over Luton Town and Brighton & Hove Albion last month.
Since graduating from the United Academy, Jesse has played 209 times for the Reds and last season entered our all-time top-100 list of appearance makers.

From our current batch, only Marcus Rashford, Phil Jones, Anthony Martial and David De Gea have played more senior games than Lingard.

Our 2020/21 home, away and third kits are available to buy now from United Direct.
