Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Mohamed Salah is fully fit and available to face Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday.

The Egyptian, who had been absent from the Merseysiders’ starting line-up since New Year’s Day due to a combination of international duty and injury, completed the full 90 minutes of the 6-1 win over Sparta Prague on Thursday, on the back of a substitute outing in the draw with Manchester City.

Salah found the net to become the first Liverpool player to score 20 or more goals in seven straight seasons, and also managed three assists as Klopp’s men eased into the Europa League quarter-finals, beating the Czech champions 11-2 on aggregate.

Liverpool did have to make do without Ibrahima Konate, who is a major doubt for the Emirates FA Cup quarter-final with a thigh problem, but youngster Bobby Clark is okay after he was substituted in the second half.

Ryan Gravenberch is bidding to make a return but the Merseysiders will be missing several experienced players for the trip down the M62, including Alisson Becker, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Diogo Jota.

“Mo is definitely ready. Ibou [Konate] didn’t train today. We have to see if he can train tomorrow, but it will be a tight, tight race which we probably lose, we don’t know,” said Klopp on Friday.

“Bobby felt much better. That was uncomfortable, [he] got a knock there and a little swelling and that’s what I think led to the feeling there might be something more serious, but it’s not, so he’s fine.

“Ryan trained today again so he’s ready as well and some of the others are [back] after the international break.”

This is the first of two trips to Old Trafford in 21 days for Klopp, who has announced that he will leave the Anfield job at the end of the campaign, after nine years in charge.

The Premier League meeting, on Sunday 7 April, could prove crucial to the Merseysiders’ hopes of wresting the title away from Manchester City, but the former Borussia Dortmund boss is prepared for a challenge in the cup first, ahead of what is also a season-defining game for a well-rested United.

“I don’t know if you can call it enjoyment, but I’m looking forward to it. It’s a good thing. We can take 9,000 people I think, more tickets and people at Old Trafford,” the German added.

“Manchester United, yeah. Ask me after the game if I enjoyed it, but, before the game, it’s just work and we try to be as well prepared as possible. The situation is that we played again on Thursday but we could handle it. United obviously have had a full week to prepare.

“Erik ten Hag is a really, really good manager. He will prepare them and he knows exactly how they play. We will face some challenges we don’t know in the moment. That’s how it is.

“We don’t have this time to prepare like this for an opponent, but we have to be ready anyway. Yes, as much as it’s possible, I enjoy it.”
