Katie Zelem for Man Utd Women

Zelem: We want a record crowd at Old Trafford

Thursday 02 March 2023 17:59

Manchester United Women skipper Katie Zelem wants to see her side play in front of a record attendance at Old Trafford on Saturday 25 March.

After a triumphant 5-0 win against Aston Villa last December, Zelem and her team-mates will return to the Theatre of Dreams for the second time this season when we host West Ham later this month.

Club captain Zelem is eager to see the stands filled in a bid to smash the league’s attendance record, saying: “The atmosphere at Leigh [Sports Village] has been incredible, it’s been growing season on season and more importantly from the start of the season until now.

“It’s hugely increased since the Euros and we want to see that at Old Trafford too. We want a record crowd and we want to try to beat the WSL attendance record!”

Our no.10 is a life-long United fan, along with some of her team-mates, and relishes every opportunity to play at our world-famous ground.

“The girls know how special it is to play at this stadium,” Zelem told MUTV in the build-up to the men’s Emirates FA Cup clash against West Ham on Wednesday night.

“Just look at the [pitch], it’s unbelievable! Myself, being a United fan, and some of the girls as well, we’re all excited!”
