Euros shirts confirmed for Mainoo and Shaw

Manchester United duo Kobbie Mainoo and Luke Shaw now know which shirt numbers they will wear for England at Euro 2024.

Mainoo donned the no.8 jersey for his country's final warm-up match against Iceland at Wembley Stadium, but it has since been announced he will wear the no.26 for the tournament in Germany.

Shaw, who played no part in Friday night's friendly due to his ongoing recovery from injury, has been given the traditional shirt for a left-back - no.3.

Reds duo in final England squad

Kobbie Mainoo and Luke Shaw will be among the Three Lions group heading to Germany for Euro 2024.

Kobbie started alongside Arsenal's Declan Rice and Manchester City's Phil Foden in a strong midfield under the famous arch, and played the full 90 minutes.

However, the Three Lions did not get the happy send-off they would have wanted ahead of the tournament in Germany, as a 12th-minute finish from Jon Dagur Thorsteinsson ultimately gave the visitors a surprise 1-0 victory.

England begin their quest for Euro 2024 glory at 20:00 BST on Sunday 16 June, with a game against Serbia at the Veltins-Arena. The other group-stage opponents for Gareth Southgate's side are Slovenia and Denmark - the latter's squad features United's Rasmus Hojlund and Christian Eriksen.

Scotland are the other British nation participating in this summer's tournament - Reds midfielder Scott McTominay is in their squad - and the Tartan Army also finished preparations for Euro 2024 on Friday.

Steve Clarke's team drew 2-2 with Finland at Hampden Park, but McTominay was an unused substitute. After scoring seven goals in qualifying, our no.39 will hope to help the Tartan Army progress from a group that includes Germany as well as Switzerland and Hungary.

Scotland play the hosts in the opening fixture of Euro 2024 at the Allianz Arena on Friday 14 June, at 20:00 BST.
