Mainoo voted May's Player of the Month
Kobbie Mainoo has picked up Manchester United's final Player-of-the-Month award for 2023/24, following a memorable May for the Academy graduate.
The 19-year-old scored with a cool finish in the 3-2 victory over Newcastle United that ended our home campaign with a win and, of course, capped a magnificent breakthrough season with the second goal in our glorious 2-1 Emirates FA Cup final success against Manchester City.
Mainoo has displayed assuredness and quality throughout but ended the domestic term on a massive high, with potentially more personal excitement to come if he clinches a place in England's Euro 2024 squad.
The midfielder was named Man of the Match at Wembley last weekend and his popularity with fans was reflected in his success in our poll to determine May's individual award winner.
Despite stiff competition from Portugal pair Diogo Dalot and Bruno Fernandes, Kobbie came out on top by a convincing margin.
He picked up 57 per cent of the vote, with captain Fernandes second on 30% and Dalot third with 13%.
This is the second time that Kobbie has got his hands on the trophy during his fledgling career.
He was star man in January, again nudging Fernandes into second spot, and was runner-up himself in December and February.
Congratulations, Kobs!
