Martinez: This club demands everything

Saturday 12 August 2023 06:59

Lisandro Martinez has outlined how being a Manchester United player demands everything from you, with our 2023/24 campaign now right around the corner.

Erik ten Hag's side are set to do battle on four fronts this term, with the hope that even more success can be achieved following the Dutchman's strong first season here in M16.

Licha has safely returned from an injury setback that saw him miss the last two months of our 2022/23 campaign, and is now back up to speed following six appearances during our pre-season endeavours.

Insisting that the fire in his belly still remains the same, Martinez stressed how the squad's desire to win trophies has never been greater.

Christian Eriksen and Lisandro Martinez are approaching the 2023/24 season with excitement and determination...

“Well, I think when you look at this badge, you need to feel hungry,” replied the Argentinian, when asked about the mood among his United team-mates.

“Motivation, you know, as this club demands everything, everything to win. So I think we have really good players and with a big mentality.

“I think it's very important. If you want to win, you need to be ready and sharper every day.”
Having so far recruited Mason Mount, Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund this summer, Ten Hag has added plenty of new faces here in M16, with the outright aim making competition for places that little bit tougher.

With plenty of football to come and the desire to succeed greater than ever, Licha explained just how the Reds' newest additions are settling in to life here in Manchester.

“I think the coach did an amazing job, he chose very well,” added Licha when speaking to club media.

“The players who are here, they are amazing and I think we are really happy with them.

“So we're looking forward to working together when the season starts and [hopefully to] win every game.”

With Gary O'Neil's side up first, Lisandro insists how he cannot wait to hear the roar of the 12th man once more at the Theatre of Dreams in a few days' time.

“We can’t wait until the start of the season. Everybody is excited, we can't wait and it shows we want to start [well] and we want to play,” added the 25-year-old.

“We want to feel [that experience of] playing [in front of] people, playing at home.”
