Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez has shared his admiration for fellow centre-back Raphael Varane.

The duo have struck up quite the relationship since Licha's arrival at the club last summer, and given both players have a fair share of silverware on their respective CVs - including last month's Carabao Cup triumph with United last month - their trophy-winning know-how will certainly be important for the Reds as the business end of the season continues to unfold.

United are in Spain, ahead of the Europa League round-of-16 second-leg clash away to Real Betis, and in pursuit of success in another competition.

''Rapha [Raphael Varane] is an amazing player,'' began Martinez, in Seville, earlier this evening. ''I really enjoy playing with him.

''We always enjoy [being together] in training, but the good thing is [we are] working hard. We are doing an amazing job, but we [also] have Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire.

''They are always ready and I am happy because we have a really good connection. When you have those players and that connection, you can have clean sheets and you can play [with confidence at] the back.''

With 'Argentina' chants often heard reverberating around Old Trafford nowadays, Lisandro's influence in the side hasn't gone unnoticed by the United faithful.

Hoping to continue to build a strong rapport with our fans as the season progresses, Martinez also spoke candidly when asked about the connection he has built with our supporters.

''It is important and football is about it,'' he said, when asked about the bond he has developed with our fans.

''Football is passion and is to play with your heart. We have to keep going with that connection with the people, we have to keep going."

Erik provides an update on the young Argentinian forward and discusses who could replace him against Real Betis.

Lisandro is therefore keen to help the team push on to reward those supporters with more to celebrate in the times ahead.

''We have really good players,'' said the Argentina international, when quizzed on our hopes for future silverware.

''We are Manchester United and we want to win every trophy. We have to work hard, which we are doing now.

"We have to go game-by-game and believe, but we have to fight for every title.''
