Manchester United midfielder Dan Gore has joined League One club Rotherham United on loan, until the end of the 2024/25 season.

It’s a second senior loan spell for the 20-year-old, who played for Port Vale in the same division last term.

Born in Prestwich and a member of our Academy since 2018, Gore was part of the 2022 FA Youth Cup-winning side, playing the full 90 minutes of the final victory over Nottingham Forest, alongside Kobbie Mainoo in midfield.

Gore made his Reds first-team debut in September 2023, appearing as a substitute against Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup.

Our 250th Academy graduate will gain experience with the League Two leaders.

That was the first of two senior appearances so far, as Dan was given his Premier League bow when coming on during a 3-2 win over Aston Villa on Boxing Day 2023.

He’s captained the Under-21s this season and scored in last month’s 5-1 win over Southampton in Premier League 2.

Dan will now gain valuable experience with the Millers, who occupy 14th position in the third-tier table, under the stewardship of Steve Evans.

Rotherham are only seven points behind Leyton Orient in sixth, however and, with 19 games left to play, will be hoping to make a push for the play-offs.

Reece James, who played once for United in 2014 after graduating from the Academy, is a regular at left-back for the South Yorkshire outfit.

Gore is the sixth young Red to secure a loan move in January, after Ethan Ennis, Joe Hugill, Jack Kingdon, Ethan Wheatley and Ethan Williams.

Best of luck with the rest of the campaign, Dan!
