Lucy Newell recalled from Birmingham City
Young Manchester United Women defender Lucy Newell has been recalled from her loan spell with Birmingham City.
The 19-year-old joined the Blues for the 2025/26 season in August and is now set to return to Carrington after spending the first half of the campaign with the WSL2 club.
Newell made four appearances for Birmingham, who are currently second place in the second tier, behind Charlton Athletic.

It concludes the second loan of Lucy's career, after she gained further senior experience during a temporary stay with Blackburn Rovers last term.
The teenager won our Women’s Academy Players’ Player of the Year for 2023/24 and signed her first professional contract with the club in October 2024, on her 18th birthday.
Newell is the latest Red out on loan to be recalled this winter, after Emma Watson came back from Crystal Palace, while Keira Barry and Evie Rabjohn have returned from Sunderland.
Hannah Blundell has gone out on loan, joining Everton for the remainder of the season, while Geyse completed a permanent transfer to Mexican side Club America on Tuesday night.
