Shaw inspired by Ten Hag's demands

Manchester United defender Luke Shaw has outlined how Erik ten Hag's demands are benefitting the group, ahead of our busy end to October.

Having only lost once so far during the month, United still have clashes against Chelsea, Sheriff Tiraspol and West Ham to come, with a trip to Stamford Bridge the next task for Shaw and co to manoeuvre around.

Performing valiantly in our recent outings against both Newcastle United and Tottenham at Old Trafford, our no.23 has insisted he is beginning to see headway in the way the Reds perform out on the pitch.

Shaw: No one can relax under Ten Hag

With competition for places high, Luke Shaw has outlined the intensity Erik ten Hag demands from every United player...

''I can see a lot of progress. I can see that the team is enjoying the new ideas and wanting to work with the new ideas,'' began Shaw, speaking exclusively to club media.

''He has brought a lot more intensity, a different structure and a structure that we now know what he wants us to do, which is a big help.

''The main thing is intensity and aggression and he wants us to go out on the pitch and give 100 per cent and leave it all out on the pitch.''

Having registered a whopping 110 touches and boasted a 91 per cent pass accuracy against the Lilywhites in midweek, Shaw was among the star performers during our impressive 2-0 victory in M16.

With fellow full-back Tyrell Malacia competing for his own spot in the starting XI too, the Three Lions defender admitted hat fighting hard for his starting place every week is essential.

Diogo Dalot and Luke Shaw were brilliant in equal measure against Spurs, both offensively and defensively.

''I think competition is always healthy, everyone wants to play every game but you understand the manager only can pick 11,'' Luke added.

''I think the new thing here with this new manager is if you are playing well and not training well, you are not going to be in the team.

Everyone knows that and it keeps everyone on their toes. No one can really relax and think they're going to play every game because with this manager you're not going to do that if you are not playing well.''

With a trip to the capital on the cards this weekend, United face another test in the shape of Graham Potter's well-drilled Chelsea outfit.

Facing up against the likes of Raheem Sterling and Kai Havertz, to name just a few, Shaw is keen to emphasise how adaptable United can be to match any given opponent.

Ten Hag provided more detail on Martial and Wan-Bissaka's fitness ahead of Saturday's game.

''I think we have always got a different game plan, the manager obviously watches the teams we are playing, the different teams and I think he always comes up with different game plans, different ways that we can attack the team,'' he added.

''Like I say, he changes that game by game, and sometimes we have to adapt if we are a bit more higher or a bit more lower [on the pitch]. Sometimes he like us full-backs to come inside and get on the ball in the middle.

''I think at the moment we are really enjoying that and becoming a bit more freer, and [we can] go into more positions and help the team in attack.''
