Saturday 13 July 2019 10:30

Daniel James will play his first game in a Manchester United shirt from the start after being selected in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side to face Perth Glory.

The first match of Tour 2019 kicks off at 12:00 BST (19:00 local time) and will be shown live on MUTV, giving United fans around the world the first chance to see James in action. The Wales international appears to be in a front three with Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard, ahead of a midfield trio that blends the experience of Nemanja Matic with the younger talents of Tahith Chong and Andreas Pereira.
The back four in front of goalkeeper Sergio Romero features Axel Tuanzebe, following his return from a promotion-winning loan spell with Aston Villa; the Academy graduate is set to partner Phil Jones at centre-back while Diogo Dalot and Ashley Young are deployed as the full-backs.

James's fellow new signing Aaron Wan-Bissaka is among the substitutes for the game, with the full team news being as follows:

Starting XI: Romero; Dalot, Tuanzebe, Jones, Young; A. Pereira, Matic; Chong, Lingard, James; Martial.

Substitutes: De Gea, J. Pereira, Rojo, Shaw, Smalling, Wan-Bissaka, Garner, Gomes, Mata, McTominay, Pogba, Greenwood, Rashford.

Solskjaer's men are wearing the club's brand new 2019/20 away kit for the first time, the day after it was revealed and made available through adidas stores, adidas.com and official club stores including United Direct.
SOLSKJAER'S PRE-MATCH INTERVIEW

Ole told MUTV's Stewart Gardner before the game: "The lads have worked hard in training. Now it's time to see if they can take that focus into the games as well and see glimpses of what we have been working on, because I have been very encouraged with what's happened in the last two weeks.

"In the second half there'll be 11 different players. We'll make all our subs at half-time so everyone gets 45 minutes, a good workout - everyone apart from the ones who've got a few niggles.

"Eric, Romelu, Victor and Lee Grant are all okay, they just have small niggles which we just want to protect today and we'll see them on Wednesday I reckon.

"I've been impressed with the new signings and I've been impressed with the whole squad and the attitude and the focus. Of course you expect them to come back with great energy but it's been very good and I can't wait to see all of them. There are young kids that are coming, there are also experienced players. We've had a couple of weeks of pre-season now and I'm excited about the whole tour.

"It's the first game and what we want to see is a team that goes out with a focus on what we do and a tempo, and we see what we've been working on in training and of course we want to win every single game."

Perth Glory is the first of six pre-season games you can watch live on MUTV this summer.
The club's official television channel is available on MUTV.com, the MUTV app, Amazon Fire, Roku, Xbox and Apple TV.
