United Academy await domestic and European competition draws

Manchester United's Academy players will soon find out who we are facing in the EFL Trophy and UEFA Youth League group stages in 2023/24.

On Thursday 22 August, alongside the EFL fixtures being announced, our Under-21s will be drawn into the EFL Trophy group stage.

There, we will face a mix of EFL teams from both League One and League Two, plus other youth sides from invited clubs.

The draw will take place at 11:30 BST on that date, live on Sky Sports (for UK viewers).

Last season, the young Reds progressed past the group stage by beating the likes of Barrow, Carlisle United and Fleetwood Town.

We then defeated Wolves' Under-21s on penalties, before being eliminated by League One outfit Bolton Wanderers in the Third Round.

But the EFL Trophy isn't the only cup competition the young Reds will be competing in, in 2023/24, with our Academy players set to participate in the UEFA Youth League.

The 64-team tournament - which pits squads of Under-19s against one another - will begin this September, and the draw for the group stage is set to take place on 31 August in Monaco.

United qualified for the competition due to our first team earning a Champions League spot with a top-four finish in the Premier League.

We last took part in the UEFA Youth League in 2021/22, where the Reds progressed from a group that included youth teams representing Atalanta, Villarreal and Young Boys, before being eliminated on penalties by Borussia Dortmund.

Makes sure you stayed tuned on ManUtd.com and in the United App for updates on 2023/24 for our Academy sides.
