United and adidas launch 2022/23 away kit

Our new kit also draws inspiration from our strips of the past, with a white jersey becoming synonymous with Manchester United on the road. The club crest also adopts a historic look with a nod to the past, as the black shield and material provides more depth to the fabric.

Just like our home kit, the away arrives in authentic and a replica versions. Whilst both are made from Primegreen 100% recycled materials, there are some slight differences in the technology that has gone into their construction.  You can shop the new away kit at United Direct here.

The authentic version utilises adidas’ HEAT.RDY technology, which regulates your body temperature by regulating airflow and distributing sweat to keep you cool and comfortable, no matter which game you’re playing. The replica version has the three stripes’ AREO.RDY technology, which wicks away sweat with ease to keep you comfortable and dry. 

The authentic also boasts a woven knit texture, with the fabric featuring a helix spiral design, which provides a premium nature to the shirt thanks to a two-tone, silk effect. The replica version also shows off an embossed fabric, creating a standout piece. 

Tapping into the rich history of the club, the new away shirt boasts a classic white colourway for the first time on a United kit since the 2016/17 season.

The jersey also features a two-tone black and red striping across the shoulders, which is the first time in our history, bringing all three of the club's core colours together in style. 

Perfect for any occasion, the away shirt is constructed with a subtle helix pattern, which is engineered into the fabric of the jersey. The pattern reflects the three pillars of the club’s philosophy: youth, courage, and success.

Inspired by the rich, graphical DNA of Manchester United shirts from the past, the fluid lines represent elements of the 1990s, with the engineered collars and cuffs also inspired by the strong visual identity of the club. 

Inigo Turner, design director at adidas said: “We approached this kit that the club will wear in opponent’s stadiums around the world with a fresh perspective, aiming to capture an indisputable sense of collective conviction and common purpose.

"Wherever the club goes, we wanted it to carry its philosophy of youth, courage, and success, proudly woven into the fabric of the kit for players and fans alike to wear together.”

Available now from United Direct here, as well as at adidas, the Manchester United 22/23 away shirt will be worn for the first time against Crystal Palace on the Tuesday 19 July in Melbourne as a part of Tour 2022.
