United and adidas launch new Originals collection
Manchester United fans can step back in time with the new Man Utd x Originals collection from adidas.
A celebration of the late 1980s and early 1990s terrace wear, adidas has reimagined pieces worn by fans as they followed the club to away games during this iconic era.
The exclusive collection, which is available on United Direct now, evokes a feeling of nostalgia, as it perfectly captures the spirit of an away day.
It's a nod to the unconditional devotion of the fans who travelled to follow the team during the notable 1988-1990 seasons, providing a contemporary take on a number of commemorative apparel pieces including a hoodie, t-shirts, and a bench jacket.
Capturing the away day spirit
Galleryadidas' new Originals collection is a nod to the devotion of fans who travelled to watch United in the late '80s.
The hero of the collection is the Man Utd x Originals third jersey, a reissue of the legendary kit worn back in '88-'90. Rich in details, the jersey features an engineered 'MUFC' jacquard material and a meticulously crafted ribbed collar with red and black detailing on the edges.
The adidas trefoil, the club's crest, and wider sponsor iconography of the time are all raised via a soft, textured material applied onto the core fabric of the jersey.
Complementing the shirt, matching shorts come finished in a woven fabric to recreate both the look and feel of the iconic garments that were donned decades ago.
The collection also includes a bench jacket, inspired by the jacket worn by Sir Alex Ferguson as he managed from the touchlines – but recreated as a modern winter jacket.
This, and a reinterpreted version of the off-pitch hoodie worn by the players, comes in a bold red, white and black colourway as a nod to the original pieces.

In a special treat for fans, an animated version of United defender Lisandro Martinez sporting the new Man Utd x Originals third jersey is due to appear on this month's United We Stand fanzine cover.
