United announce Season Ticket plans for 2021/22
As the nation prepares to emerge from lockdown, Manchester United is gearing up for the projected return of fans.
Today, Season Ticket plans are announced for 2021/22, which include a price freeze, a range of support measures to provide financial flexibility and a renewal timetable.
Twelve months have passed since fans last attended Old Trafford. However, the UK government’s COVID-19 response plan for this spring, published last month, has enabled the club to plan for next season with the potential for a return to normal operations at Old Trafford on the horizon.
Richard Arnold, Group Managing Director, said: “This past year has tested all of our resilience. Fans have missed being at Old Trafford and we have missed them being there. While we will continue to plan for every eventuality, we are announcing our plans for Season Ticket holders for next season with optimism that this will be a fresh start and a long-awaited step towards normality.
“Season Ticket prices have been frozen for the 2021/22 season, as part of our ongoing commitment to fair pricing that has been a fundamental part of our ticketing policy for some time. This marks the tenth successive season that the club has kept prices frozen in general admission areas of the stadium.”
How have fans coped during the pandemic?
ArticleWe asked a range of Official United Supporters Clubs what effect COVID-19 has had on them.
Over the past year there have been setbacks for the return of fans as society has dealt with the challenges of the pandemic and subsequent regulations. If future games are required to be played behind closed doors or with restricted capacity, United confirms it will offer Season Ticket holders either a pro-rata rebate, or a refund, to those affected.
Arnold reassured fans: “Our policy for Season Ticket holders is fair and simple – fans will only pay for matches that they are entitled to attend if capacity restrictions are required.”
Initiatives to provide support, choice and flexibility to Season Ticket holders, designed in consultation with MUST and our other fan groups, will underpin the pricing policies. These include:
- Those who have not yet cashed in their refund from 2019/20 will be able to carry their rebate over, to be used towards their 2021/22 renewal
- An option to take one season out, and retain previous loyalty privileges earned when buying a new seat for 2022/23
- Those who have been unable to obtain finance via our buy-now pay-later programme will be able to renew with an interest-free instalment plan
Existing Season Ticket holders have until 30 April to provide an indication to United of their intention to renew. The renewal process then goes live on 7 June, with a deadline of 30 June.
Meanwhile, for Executive Club members, the prices communicated for 2020/21 will be rolled over for 2021/22 with the renewals being launched in April ahead of a 1 June contract deadline. First payments are due on 2 July. Executive Club members will receive a call from their account manager in the coming weeks.
Prices for Season Tickets for the women’s matches held at Leigh Sports Village also remain frozen for the forthcoming campaign. Existing Season Ticket holders can renew from 7 June until 30 June. New Season Tickets for the women’s team will be on sale from 7 June and those interested should visit manutd.com/muwtickets.
One year of following United in lockdown
ArticleExactly 12 months to the day since restrictions were imposed in the UK, our writers have reflected on their experiences.
Inevitably, the COVID-19 pandemic will create some changes to the match-going experience and procedures at Old Trafford. Stadium safety and COVID-security will continue to be a focus for next season.
Arnold continued: “The last year has demonstrated the ability of Premier League clubs to deliver bio-secure, safe events and we are committed to creating a safe experience for all those who attend future matches at Old Trafford. A new Supporters’ Code of Conduct and a range of health and safety measures have already been communicated to our fans.
"We are eager to be reunited with them and to see the new stadium operation in action, potentially towards the end of this season. Until then, I urge all of our fans to follow social distancing and health guidance, to look after each other and to enjoy the rest of the season.”
