Tour 2024: United to play in San Diego again

Tuesday 12 March 2024 16:00

Manchester United will return to the Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego this summer, for another intriguing pre-season game.

The Reds' friendly against Spanish club Real Betis on Wednesday 31 July is the third fixture to be confirmed for Tour 2024, following last month's announcement of the eagerly awaited meetings with Premier League rivals Arsenal and Liverpool.

A number of tickets for the game against the Gunners, at the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on Saturday 27 July, are still available via Ticketmaster. Meanwhile, our clash with Liverpool in Columbia on Saturday 3 August has sold out.

Tickets for United v Real Betis in San Diego will initially be available via an exclusive pre-sale for supporters who register to receive our free Fan First Alerts here.

These alerts will keep you posted on important Tour 2024 news and give you the chance to win some fantastic prizes, such as shirts signed by the squad.

The pre-sale starts at 10:00 local time (17:00 UK) this Wednesday 13 March. If you register for the alerts, you will receive an exclusive link and code via email.

United have only faced Real Betis in two competitive fixtures and these were played in March last year, as Erik ten Hag's men triumphed 4-1 at home and 1-0 away in the Europa League Round of 16. Marcus Rashford netted in both games, while Antony, Bruno Fernandes and Wout Weghorst also scored in the first leg.

That tie was preceded by a friendly between the teams, during a winter break in the same 2022/23 campaign. Real Betis beat a youthful United side 1-0, courtesy of Nabil Fekir's second-half strike at the Estadio Benito Villamarin.

Real Betis, who are managed by ex-Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini, are currently seventh in La Liga. Their results in this calendar year so far include victories over Athletic Club and Granada, and a dramatic 4-2 away defeat to Barcelona, during which they rallied from 2-0 down to level at 2-2 through Isco's quick-fire double - only to concede twice in injury time.

Fans can expect another exciting game when the Reds and Los Verdiblancos contest the Snapdragon Cup at the stadium of the same name.

At that venue last year, a United team comprised almost entirely of Academy players - with Jonny Evans being the only senior professional on duty - faced Wrexham. The newly crowned champions of the National League, co-owned by Hollywood stars Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds, won the friendly match 3-1.
