United's Christmas and New Year fixtures confirmed

Monday 24 October 2022 15:00

Manchester United's Christmas and New Year schedule can now be confirmed, after the Premier League released its latest set of fixture dates.

We already knew that our trip to Fulham on Sunday 13 November would be our last domestic outing for six weeks as, for the first time ever, league fixtures are being paused to allow the World Cup to take place, in Qatar.

The Premier League resumes on Boxing Day, eight days after the World Cup final in Doha, but United fans will have to wait an extra 24 hours to see the Reds in action.

The club today launches its ‘One Love’ campaign which underlines support for the LGBTQ+ community.

That's because our home game with Nottingham Forest has been moved to Tuesday 27 December. As with all the other fixtures in that round, it will be shown live on Amazon Prime Video, with kick-off at Old Trafford set for 20:00 GMT.

It's the second consecutive year in which United haven't had a Boxing Day game - we drew 1-1 at Newcastle on 27 December in 2021 - and it will be Forest's first trip to M16 for 24 years, with the East Midlands club only returning to the top flight this summer following a prolonged absence.

Our final game of 2022 sees us play Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux, in the lunchtime kick-off on Saturday 31 December which is, of course, New Year's Eve.

The clash with Wolves was originally intended to take place at 15:00 GMT, but it has now moved to 12:30 GMT and will be screened live on BT Sport.

The Black Country outfit were our first opponents of the current calendar year and United will be out for revenge having suffered a 1-0 defeat, at Old Trafford, in that game.

We're then back at Old Trafford to see in 2023, as newly promoted Bournemouth are the opponents at the Theatre of Dreams.

The clash with the Cherries, who have been in good form under interim boss Gary O'Neil, is not being televised live in the UK but has been given a new date and kick-off time. It will now be played at 20:00 GMT on Tuesday 3 January, in order to protect the players' rest periods between match rounds 18 and 19.
