United confirm Garnacho ankle injury
Manchester United have revealed that Alejandro Garnacho suffered an ankle injury at the weekend.
Last season's Jimmy Murphy Young Player of the Year has been a key attacking weapon for Erik ten Hag this term and was outstanding in the recent Emirates FA Cup win over West Ham United, scoring a superb goal to put the Reds in front late on.
After coming on as a substitute in Sunday's 0-0 draw with Southampton, he was hurt in a challenge by full-back Kyle Walker-Peters and eventually replaced by Fred in stoppage time.
Garnacho confirms injury lay-off
ArticleAlejandro says he will miss out on Argentina's upcoming internationals.
After the player posted on Instagram to express his disappointment at missing our upcoming games ahead of the international break, and Argentina's two fixtures, the club has suggested that the ankle-ligament injury is still being assessed.
Although this means the duration of Garnacho's absence is still uncertain, he is set to be out for a number of weeks, which is clearly a blow considering his explosive form.
The 18-year-old has made 29 appearances this term for the Reds, scoring four times.
With Erik's men still competing in the Premier League, Emirates FA Cup and Europa League, we hope he makes a speedy recovery.
