Dalot: We need to be ready for Real Sociedad
Diogo Dalot says a determined Real Sociedad side will provide a difficult test for United to overcome when they visit Old Trafford on Thursday.
The Spanish outfit are our first opponents of the 2022/23 Europa League campaign, with the Reds set to play out fixtures against them, Sheriff and Omonia in Group E during the coming weeks.
Looking ahead to the competition’s curtain-raiser in an exclusive interview with MUTV, Dalot shared his knowledge of the La Liga side and the strengths they possess.
“[They are] a typical Spanish team [who] is very good on the ball,” he said. “They want to control the game. They know they will come to a tough place [Old Trafford], but they will have personality.
“They have players who can keep the ball, they have players who can score goals and create chances, so we have to be ready for that.”
A word with Diogo before our game against La Real

The San Sebastian club have started their 2022/23 domestic campaign well, accumulating seven points from their first four fixtures in La Liga.
Ahead of facing the Basques, Dalot revealed that he is a keen watcher of Spanish football and knows what to expect when La Real step out onto the Old Trafford pitch on Thursday.
“I really like it [La Liga],” he said. I often watch the games.
“It is a very good competition, and we know that it is going to be a tough game. They have a very good quality squad which will give us problems, but we have to analyse it and be ready for everything.”
United go into Thursday’s fixture looking to secure a first European win under manager Erik ten Hag, as his side look to emulate the 2016/17 campaign, where we lifted the Europa League trophy.
Real Sociedad represent a stern first test for the Reds, but there is no doubt that Dalot is ready for it.
