Lindelof gives update on back injury
Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof says he is now over the back injury which affected him for certain parts of last season.
The Swedish defender made a very commendable 45 appearances in 2020/21, but was forced to sit out certain fixtures, including games with Wolves, Aston Villa and Burnley around Christmas and New Year.
In March, Victor spoke to club media and revealed how he was having to manage the issue, especially during the congested period when we were playing every three or four days, saying he was playing through the pain.
Fortunately now though, the 27-year-old can reveal that after some rest and specific work on it during the summer, the condition is much improved.
“I feel much better now,” Victor told us.

“I’ve been working very hard on my back especially during the break. I struggled a lot with it last season and had to really play through it.
“I played a game and then would need to rest for a couple of days and then it was straight into another game.
“That was tough, but like I say I’ve been working very hard with different types of exercises and treatment, and I feel much better.”
The former Benfica man has been with the Reds at our training camp in Scotland this week, after helping Sweden to the last 16 of Euro 2020 in June.
A month-long break followed, which was much-needed according to Victor, but he’s now fully focused on the season ahead, with the first game against Leeds in 10 days following on from Saturday’s friendly versus Everton.
“Like I say it’s been difficult with a lot of games,” he added. “You have to really take care of your body and when you have time to rest a little bit you have to do that and also clear your mind.
“It’s been very demanding, but you’re here to play games and I like the challenge.”
