Revealed: Our FA Cup third-round opponents
Manchester United will play Brighton & Hove Albion at Old Trafford in the third round of the 2025/26 Emirates FA Cup.
The Reds were paired with the Seagulls in the penultimate tie of Monday evening's live televised draw, conducted by former England internationals Joe Cole and Peter Crouch.
Our tie will take place around the weekend of 10/11 January 2026, with exact details to be confirmed in due course.
We've already beaten Fabian Hurzeler's side in M16 this season, winning 4-2 in October with Matheus Cunha, Casemiro and Bryan Mbeumo (x2) all scoring.
This will be the ninth time we've faced the south-coast club in the FA Cup, with the most famous meetings coming in 1983.
That's when we beat the Seagulls in the final, running out 4-0 winners in a replay after an initial 2-2 draw.
The most recent cup meeting came in April 2023, when Erik ten Hag's Reds kept cool to claim shootout victory, after a goalless 120 minutes in the semi-final at Wembley.
Ruben Amorim's men will be bidding to win the competition for the 14th time in the club's history.
Our most recent victory came 18 months ago, as we beat Manchester City at Wembley under Ten Hag.
Fulham knocked us out of the cup in 2024/25, succeeding on penalties at Old Trafford following a 1-1 draw in March's fifth-round clash.
Crystal Palace eliminated the Cottagers in the quarter-finals and went on to lift the trophy for the first time, when overcoming City in May's final.
