United discover potential FA Cup quarter-final opponents

Wednesday 04 March 2020 22:30

Manchester United will face Norwich City in the Emirates FA Cup quarter-final, if we get past Derby County tomorrow (Thursday).

The tie will take place at Carrow Road on the weekend of Saturday 21 March, with an exact date and time yet to be confirmed.

Daniel Farke’s side knocked out Tottenham Hotspur on penalties in the fifth round on Wednesday, after a 1-1 draw.

Jan Vertonghen gave Spurs, playing at home, the lead, but Josip Drmic’s late equaliser forced extra time, during which the sides could not be separated.

Tim Krul was the hero for the visitors, saving efforts from Troy Parrott and Gedson Fernandes in the shoot-out to secure his side a first berth in the last eight for 28 years.

United will travel to Carrow Road in the quarter-final, if we beat Derby tomorrow.

The other three ties are confirmed as being all-Premier League clashes, with Leicester City hosting Chelsea in the pick of the bunch. Holders Manchester City travel to Newcastle, while Sheffield United go up against Arsenal at Bramall Lane.

THE FULL DRAW

Sheffield United v Arsenal
Newcastle United v Manchester City
Norwich City v Derby County/UNITED
Leicester City v Chelsea

United were due to face Sheffield United at Old Trafford in the Premier League on Sunday 22 March.

However that fixture will now be moved to an alternative date due to the Blades’ confirmed involvement in the last eight.
