United come out of the hat.

United discover Europa League opponents

Monday 14 December 2020 12:33

Manchester United have been paired with Real Sociedad, following the Europa League round-of-32 draw in Nyon on Monday.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's Reds will face the current leaders of La Liga, who include former Red Adnan Januzaj and ex-Manchester City star David Silva in their ranks.

The two clubs have only met twice before - in the 2013/14 Champions League group stage. Both fixtures were low-scoring affairs, with United winning 1-0 at home before a goalless draw in Spain. Inigo Martinez's early own-goal at Old Trafford proved to be the decider, handing David Moyes's men three points.

The first leg is away from home on Thursday 18 February 2021, kick-off at 17:55 GMT, before the return takes place a week later at Old Trafford, at 20:00 GMT.

The teams are competing for the right to play in the final in Gdansk, in Poland, on Wednesday 26 May, with the Reds aiming to go a step further than last season, when we were beaten by eventual victors Sevilla in the semi-final.

Jose Mourinho's Tottenham will play Wolfsberger from Austria, while their north London rivals Arsenal come up against Benfica.

Leicester City take on Slavia Prague and Steven Gerrard's Rangers must get past our former feeder club Royal Antwerp.
