United confirm Europa League squad

Wednesday 03 February 2021 16:10

Manchester United have named a 24-man squad for the Europa League, although it is worth remembering that players can be added from the B-list.

This means the likes of Brandon Williams and Mason Greenwood, plus other homegrown talents, do not count as part of the main group.

The January transfer window business has led to Tim Fosu-Mensah, Jesse Lingard, Facundo Pellistri and Odion Ighalo being unavailable so changes have been necessitated from those on Champions League duty in 2020.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has drafted in teenager Amad Diallo, following the completion of his move from Atalanta. The winger scored twice on his first appearance for the club in Saturday's 6-3 victory at Liverpool at Under-23s level.

Phil Jones is recalled as there are hopes he will soon be available again after a long-term injury lay-off. Ole confirmed on Monday that he planned to add the centre-back to his squad following the departure of Marcos Rojo to Boca Juniors on a permanent basis.

United face Real Sociedad in the round of 32, with the away leg taking place on 18 February (17:55 GMT kick-off) before a 20:00 GMT start at Old Trafford for the second leg, a week later.
