United Cup semi-final details confirmed

Wednesday 29 March 2023 12:00

Manchester United will face Brighton & Hove Albion in the Emirates FA Cup semi-final at Wembley on Sunday 23 April.

The game will kick off at 16:30 BST and is being broadcast live on BBC One in the UK. The tie represents an opportunity for Erik ten Hag's side to qualify for a second domestic final of the season and we are bidding to achieve that particular double for the first time since 1994.

United, who face Sevilla in Spain in the Europa League on the Thursday night prior to that weekend, reached this stage with a 3-1 victory over Fulham at Old Trafford.

The last-four date is a repeat of the 1983 final in the competition, another year when the Reds reached the climax of both the FA Cup and League Cup.

After a thrilling 2-2 draw in the first match, Ron Atkinson's men won 4-0 in the replay, thanks to skipper Bryan Robson's brace, a Norman Whiteside effort and an Arnold Muhren penalty.

This year's other semi-final clash, between Manchester City and Championship side Sheffield United, takes place on Saturday 22 April.

Meanwhile, our women's team are also meeting the Seagulls, at the same stage of the competition, on Saturday 15 April, with a 17:15 BST start at Leigh Sports Village.
